Summary. Shelf is a desktop clipboard manager that operates entirely offline. All of your data stays on your device. Shelf does not collect, transmit, or share your clipboard history, snippets, or screenshots with us or anyone else.

Data Shelf processes on your device

Shelf processes the following data locally on your device to provide its features. This data is never sent to us or to any server:

  • Clipboard content — text, links, file paths, color codes, and copied images or screenshots.
  • Content type — automatically detected (text, link, color, file, image, screenshot).
  • Source application — the name of the app you copied from (e.g. "Chrome"), shown alongside history for context.
  • Timestamps — when each item was copied, to order your history.
  • Snippets — the reusable text and folders you create.
  • Screenshots — images you capture and annotate.
  • Preferences — your hotkeys, theme, history size, and startup settings.

Where your data is stored

All data is stored exclusively on your local device, for example:

  • Database: %APPDATA%\com.slavk.Shelf-App\Shelf-App.db (local SQLite database)
  • Images: %APPDATA%\com.slavk.Shelf-App\images\
  • Screenshots: %APPDATA%\com.slavk.Shelf-App\screenshots\

Shelf does not encrypt stored data at rest. Your clipboard history — including anything sensitive you may copy, such as passwords — is stored in the local database and image files. Its security is governed by your Windows account and any disk encryption (such as BitLocker) you have enabled.

What Shelf does not do

Shelf does not:

  • Transmit your clipboard content, snippets, or screenshots over the internet
  • Connect to external servers, APIs, or cloud services to store your content
  • Collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics
  • Use cookies or tracking technologies inside the app
  • Require a user account or sign-in to use the trial
  • Share data with third parties, or include advertising

License activation

The trial and limited free mode work fully offline. If you purchase Shelf Pro, entering your license key may contact a licensing service solely to validate that key. This process does not transmit your clipboard content, snippets, or screenshots. License activation is the only network feature planned for the paid version.

Payments

Shelf is sold directly from this website. Payment is handled by a third-party checkout provider, which processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Your control over your data

  • Delete individual items from your history at any time
  • Clear your entire history, with the option to keep pinned items
  • Uninstall Shelf, and optionally delete the data folder at %APPDATA%\com.slavk.Shelf-App\ to remove all stored data

Sensitive information

Shelf captures content you copy to the clipboard without filtering. This can include sensitive information such as passwords or personal data. Be mindful of what you copy while Shelf is running, and clear items you don't want retained.

Children's privacy

Shelf does not collect or transmit personal data and does not require an account. Because all data remains local to the device, protections are governed by the device's operating system and account settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If Shelf ever introduces features that involve transmitting or collecting data, we will update this statement and note it in the app.
