Does Shelf upload my clipboard?
No. Shelf stores clipboard history, snippets, and screenshots locally on your PC.
Does Shelf work without an account?
Yes. The free trial does not require an account. A license key is only needed to unlock Pro after the trial.
What happens after the trial?
Shelf keeps working in free mode: the last 25 clipboard items, up to 5 snippets, and screenshots with the basic tools. Nothing is deleted. Activating Shelf Pro brings the full history back and unlocks recording, scrolling capture, pinning and the privacy tools.
Can I record my screen with sound?
Yes. Press Alt+Shift+R, drag over the area you want, and Shelf records it as an MP4 with both system audio and your microphone, for up to three hours. Either source can be muted from the recorder bar while recording. Recording covers the visible screen, so the window you are recording needs to stay on screen.
Can I paste a recording into a chat?
Copy puts the MP4 on the clipboard as a file, so Ctrl+V attaches it in Slack, WhatsApp, and most apps that accept dropped files. Microsoft Teams does not accept pasted video from any application; for Teams, use Save As and attach the file, or drag it from Explorer.
Is Shelf available in the Microsoft Store?
Shelf is distributed directly from this website for now.
Which Windows versions are supported?
Shelf is built and tested on Windows 11 (64-bit) and uses the video and audio encoders that ship with Windows 10 version 2004 and later. Screenshots and recordings capture the primary display.
